Will HTML5 Kill Apple’s App Store?

Although businesses and websites across the globe have scrambled to create iPad and iPhone applications for their brand, many developers are starting to see the HTML5 writing on the wall, as it spells dollar signs for them–but not through the Apple App Store.

The advantages of using HTML5 for app creation include the ability to distribute apps through multiple app stores, platforms and devices. Combine that with increased profits due to not having to pay Apple 30% of an app’s sales and you have a definitive reason why developers are ready to jump on to the HTML5 bandwagon.

HTML5, along with AJAX and CSS3, can be used to create applications which work on iPads, iPhones, Android phones and tablets, and standard desktop browsers. As web developers have been hoping for years, standardization may indeed save the day–and close the App Store.
