May 25, 2010

Web developers talk a lot about Search Engine Optimization (SEO), and lately even more about video SEO. In this article, we’re going to omit the word “video” and just go back to basic SEO to get to the heart of the matter.

Let’s think in terms of what your site’s visitors are doing when they find your site, or more precisely, your site’s video(s). Since they type in specific keywords to find your videos, what are you doing when you submit your videos to YouTube in regards to keywords? That brings us to keyword research. You need to be using keyword tools and keyword data from multiple sources before you begin to write a title or a tag for your videos!

Research has shown that over 90% of users find the pages, articles and content on your site using the search engines, and more specifically, Google. People use three, four and five word search phrases more than ever. Keyword research is a major compenent of every successful SEO project.
