A new report from White Ops says that 20 percent of the ad-serving websites in existence get no human traffic at all. Instead, all of these sites’ visitors are traffic bots intended for click fraud.
Similarly, the report says that 22 percent of desktop video ads are viewed only by the fraudulent bots.
The firm estimates that ad-fraud sites will generate $6.5 billion this year, which is actually a decrease from 2016’s $7.2 billion in revenue.
