New Telerik DevCraft Release Enables Developers to Create Responsive Experiences for Any Screen

Telerik® today announced the latest advancements to its industry-leading DevCraft suite for web, desktop and mobile development. Following the highly-successful release of the Telerik Platform, the new release of Telerik DevCraft focuses on UI, mobile, data, reporting and productivity enhancements for .NET platforms. With features such as responsive design, map reporting and document processing, Telerik is ensuring customers have the innovations needed to stay ahead of the development curve by enabling application development for any screen.

“Telerik DevCraft remains a key focus for the company and is a pillar of our overall product portfolio,” said Vassil Terziev, co-founder and CEO, Telerik. “With this release, we continue to address customer pain points with features such as responsive design, document processing and offline data storage. Our commitment to our customers is to provide a portfolio of end-to-end tools and services so developers can pursue a modern, adaptive development strategy, regardless of platform preference.”

Responsive Design
According to Gartner, “Responsive Design is rapidly gaining popularity among developers, designers, tool makers and Web platform vendors, driven in part by multichannel development to address mobile Web and app requirements, along with traditional websites, in a unified approach.”[1]

Telerik is the first to introduce a server-side responsive layout framework and adaptive UI capabilities for ASP.NET AJAX, embracing the emerging shift in mobile and web development. Developers can target the myriad of screen sizes and devices available today by building responsive and adaptive web applications faster.

Telerik is also expanding its adaptive screen capabilities with new mapping functionality in Telerik Reporting. The new Map Report offers developers the ability to add geolocation to reports, which can be viewed on any device as well as plot 2D data charts to provide richer geographical context to users.

Data and Analytics
Telerik now offers enhanced offline data storage in Telerik UI for Windows Phone—a unique capability enabling users to access key application data when offline, without sacrificing device memory. Telerik is also the first vendor to provide its Data Storage Engine for both Windows Phone and Windows 8, allowing users to capitalize on the expected unification of Windows and Windows Phone, slated for later this year.

Also new with this release is the instrumentation of UI for WinForms with Telerik Analytics, which enables developers to refine their efforts by leveraging important data such as application interactions, crash reports and feature usage. The result is improved usability of applications for the end user.

Productivity
Profiling is considered a time-consuming task and is typically left until post-deployment. With this DevCraft release, Telerik offers native profiling functionality for the first time through JustTrace, providing users with the ability to profile any native application written in C++. In addition, all Windows 8 app developers can benefit from Telerik JustMock and its lite and elevated mocking in WinRT, making the process of .NET mocking and unit testing easier.
