New Internet Explorer 9 Release Candidate Announced

Microsoft today announced the availability of the release candidate for its Internet Explorer 9 web browser. IE9 has been in beta test mode for the last 5 months, and this is the final step before the general release of the popular web browser to the public.

The release candidate for IE9, which is available at Beauty of the Web, a site devoted to showcasing the new aspects of Internet Explorer 9, includes new Tracking Protection features, interface tweaks and additional support for the HTML5 standard.

Ryan Gavin, Microsoft’s senior director of Internet Explorer, is excited about the release and the role the developer community has played in its development. Gavin stated that “The Platform Previews represented a new level of transparency in the development process for us. That open and transparent approach has really reshaped how we built IE9. It was the highest quality beta that we’ve ever had. We had over 17,000 pieces of feedback, which is more than all of the feedback we got in the entire development life cycle of IE8.”
