Sep 9, 2010

Mozilla this week announced that it has created a new division which will create games that can be played directly on web browsers. The new division, named Mozilla Labs Gaming, with use standard web technologies to make gaming available on the Open Web.

The Mozilla Foundation is inviting developers to create some amazing applications using standard web technologies, and establish Open Web as the framework used to create gaming applications that will work across all internet-connected devices.

Open Web technologies include open video, audio, WebGL, touch events, device orientation, geo-location, and super-quick JavaScript engines that allow developers to create complex games that can be used on both desktop and mobile browsers.
