The folks at DotNetNuke this week announced the release of DotNetNuke (DNN) version 6.1, with functionality that enables websites to more easily deliver content to mobile devices. DNN 6.1 features a site group capability that makes the management of permissions and profiles across multiple platforms easier and faster.
International Data Corporation (IDC) recently released data which indicates a rapid growth in the mobile industry, stating that by 2015 more than 1.2 billion internet-capable devices will be used worldwide. The program vice president of content and digital media technologies at IDC, Melissa Webster, discussed the topic, stating that “As our research shows, companies need an easy and cost effective way to ‘mobilize’ their Web sites so their Web content can be experienced on the long and growing list of mobile devices in the market today, from smartphones to tablets.”
DNN 6.1 enables businesses to use the powerful CMS to develop, deploy and manage one version of their mobile-enabled website using technologies such as CSS and HTML5. Included in this release is a mobile site template which can be used as a starting point for businesses, making it easier to begin the mobile development process.
