Mobile developers will be very likely to use HTML5 to enhance and simplify mobile development, but it will be a while before it’s up to the task. Wireless experts are quick to point out the limitations of HTML5 in its current state.
AT&T exec Ted Woodbury recently joined the debate, commenting that “HTML5 is not a panacea. It won’t solve all your problems. It won’t be a disaster but I think people will always do both.”
The topic was covered at a recent conference on mobile development called Mobile Northwest where many developers and companies continued the discussion. Woodbury further explained his criticism of HTML5, explaining that “We’ve run into the limits of what HTML5 can and can’t do and it’s painful.”
