Microsoft To Release Windows Phone 7 App Building Tools on Sept. 16th

Aug 24, 2010

Microsoft announced today that it will be releasing application building tools for its Windows Phone 7 on September 16th. Although they have been available to developers in beta form for several months, the final developer tools will become available in this upcoming release.

Trying to keep up with the popularity of the iPhone and Android, Microsoft is launching its new mobile OS this fall. After canceling its mobile phone project named Kin, the company has fallen behind in mobile development.

The company is smart enough to know that the popularity of its mobile phone will likely depend on the availability of quality apps. Since the apps largely depend on developers, Microsoft is making a push with this upcoming release.
