Mesosphere Announces the Release of Marathon Framework

Sep 30, 2013

Mesosphere introduces “Marathon”, the all new open-source framework based on Mesos designed for long-running services which are considered to be any web-app or mobile API design running on the Ruby on Rails platform. The concept run services on the same cluster as Big Data batch jobs allowing businesses to save money on operating costs for their clusters and reduce the latency involved with hauling large data chunks into real-time apps which use them. The success of Mesos has allowed Apache to promote Mesosphere to a top-level project with provides resource isolation and sharing across distributed applications, or “frameworks”, such as Hadoop, Spark, Storm, MPI, and so on. Mesos also runs Memcache, Ruby on Rails, JBoss, MySQL, and other frameworks commonly run on clusters. Read the full story here.
