IE9 Will Change the World–for Web Developers and Users

Apr 13, 2010

Microsoft has long been a player in the browser wars, but IE9 is positioned to change the playing field. Other browsers have attempted to leverage the CPU and system RAM, but IE9 is different–it leverages the Graphics Processing Unit (GPU) and may change the way we think about the ubiquitous web browser.

The new graphics capabilities of IE9 could enable web developers to create websites that are richer, pages which look like physical places users can interact with, essentially allowing the basis for interactive web-based virtual worlds.

The changes that IE9 will inspire will take time to mature. With companies such as Apple pushing developers towards HTML5, which is at the core of IE9’s changes, browser makes may actually cooperate to make the graphics-driven web a whole new world for both web developers and internet users.
