If developers were worried about the demise of Adobe Flash, with all the press HTML5 is getting lately, they are probably feeling a bit more secure after the Adobe MAX conference last week. Although Adobe is definitely delving heavily into the world of HTML5, they foresee a world in which Flash and HTML5 live side by side.
Adobe recently acquired Nitobi, the makers of the PhoneGap mobile app creation tool, which uses HTML and JavaScript. They also have been actively promoting the new Edge HTML5 animation tool, along with CSS Regions and CSS Shaders, the former being Adobe’s contribution to the open source Webkit HTML engine, the latter a submission to the W3C.
Flash tools have come a long way, and Adobe also showed off its Flash Professional, a Flash design-oriented authoring tool. The interesting part was that Flash Professional is now also an HTML authoring tool, as developers can now publish Flash Professional projects to HTML and JavaScript.
