HTML 5 Often Not As Fast As Flash

Sep 20, 2010

Adobe was quick to point out that although it supports HTML 5, Flash is often quicker, especially on mobile devices. They pointed out that, according to tests run by a developer, Flash runs faster and more efficiently on mobile devices than HTML 5.

With the current debate about HTML 5 vs. Flash, Adobe has been fighting to promote Flash technology. In April, Apple introduced a strict policy that denied developers the right to use third party technologies, including Flash, when developing applications for iOS devices. Last week Apple eased the restrictions, opening the door to third party software companies.

In spite of the debate, Adobe still plans to support the emerging HTML 5 standard, and said that HTML 5 could eventually beat Flash in different benchmark performance tests. They stressed that each platform has its merits, and each has a place in the future of the web.
