Google’s Firebase platform is popular for creating the back-ends of mobile and Web apps, and now the company has announced that it is open sourcing some of the components for Firebase. While it says some parts of the platform aren’t yet ready to go open source, it will release the Firebase JavaScript SDK 4.0, Firebase iOS SDK 4.0 and Firebase Admin SDKs for Node.js, Java and Python.
In a blog post, the Firebase team said, “We believe in open source software, not only because transparency is an important goal, but also because we know that the greatest innovation happens when we all collaborate. You can view our new repos on our open source project page.”
