Future of Windows Programming: HTML5 and “Jupiter”?

Windows developers have up until now been kept in the dark about the future of programming for the Windows operating system, and some developers have expressed concern that they are not ready to scrap C#, C++ and Silverlight for the wonders of HTML5. Recently, however, rumors are that Microsoft will be announcing an additional “Jupiter” platform for Windows 8 and Windows Phone development.

The new Jupiter platform is said to enable developers to utilize their existing skillset to create apps which run on all platforms. In one demonstration, C# is used to invoke a Jupiter-based application which resembles a Silverlight animation. Word has it that Microsoft will be revealing the Jupiter platform to developers next month at the BUILD conference.
