Does Website Loading Speed Matter? To Google it Does!

Apr 16, 2010

According to SEO experts, Google’s recent announcement that page loading times will effect page ranks “is a huge move.” Technologies such as Flash and Java may slow loading times, making their use an important aspect of Search Engine Optimization (SEO) efforts.

SEO director for Idea Taxi, Sam Tilston, stated that it will significantly affect web coding and design, and that “Site owners must look at a range of factors now, ensuring they have enough capacity to handle traffic spikes, clean design, compressed graphics, optimized scripts and others.”

Google announced earlier in the month that although site speed is not as important to SEO as content and relevance, a fast loading website is indicative of a better user experience, and that’s what Google is after in the long run.
