Delicious to Shut Down

Jun 5, 2017

One of the most influential websites from the early days of the Internet is about to fade away. Pinboard has announced that as of June 15, Delicious will become a read-only website, and users will no longer be able to save new bookmarks to the site. Pinboard acquired Delicious, which was one of its competitors, last week.

Founded in 2003, Delicious was one of the first websites to offer social bookmarking capabilities. That concept has since been copied by sites such as Pinterest, Pinboard and Pocket. Delicious has been bought and sold five times throughout its history.
