Two of the country’s largest Internet service providers (ISPs) are taking two very different approaches to home Internet data limits. Cox has added four states — Arizona, Louisiana, Nevada and Oklahoma — to the list of places where it charges fees if customers exceed their monthly data caps. Customers get 1TB of data per month include in their plan and pay an additional $10 for each 50GB over the limit. However, the company is reportedly considering adding an unlimited option.
On the other hand, CenturyLink ended an experimental data cap program it was testing in Yakima, Washington. “Because this approach no longer aligns with our goal to simplify offers and pricing for our customers, we have decided to end this program, effective May 3, 2017,” the company said. It offered bill credits to all customers who received overage fees.
