Last year, Google added a download button to the Android version of Chrome. The feature made it possible for users to save a website for viewing at a later time when they might not have an Internet connection. According to Google, users download around 45 million websites this way every week.
Now the company is improving that functionality by allowing users to download pages whenever they long-press a link. In addition, new Chrome tabs will open with a list of previously downloaded sites, and when a connection is too poor to allow users to view a site, Chrome will offer a “Download Page Later” function, which will download the page whenever Internet connectivity becomes available again. The new features could bring more mobile traffic to websites.
