Google’s Chrome browser has a new feature that should make it easier for website visitors to read text while pages are loading.
Like the other major browsers, Chrome uses progressive loading, which allows users to see the text and some other elements on a page before the entire page has finished loading. However, the feature sometimes leads to annoying “jumps” that require users to scroll up or down to find the place where they left off reading.
Google has been testing a feature called Scroll Anchoring that eliminates most of those jumps, especially for mobile users. It has been so well received that Google is now turning it on by default in Chrome.
