Can Microsoft Convince iPhone Developers To Move To Windows Phone?

May 2, 2011

Apple is the obvious market leader when it comes to mobile computing, but Microsoft is seriously trying to entice iPhone developers to reconsider the Windows Phone platform. In fact, they recently released an API tool which helps developers transition from iPhone apps to Windows Phone.

Microsoft’s iPhone/iOS to Windows Phone 7 API mapping tool allows iPhone developers to port their iPhone apps by selecting iOS API calls, and using the equivalent classes methods and notification events for Windows Phone 7.

The senior technical evangelist for interoperability at Microsoft, Jean-Christophe Cimitiere, recently remarked “Launched today, the iPhone/iOS to Windows Phone 7 API mapping tool helps developers find their way around when they discover the Windows Phone platform. Think of the API mapping tool as being like a translation dictionary.”
