Box Acquires Crocodoc To Add HTML5 Document Converter and More To Their Cloud Storage Platform

Box’s first acquisition since 2009, Crocodoc is geared toward developers. This technology is currently employed by such Internet titans as LinkedIn, SAP, Yammer, rival Dropbox as the company struggled to reach end-users directly. Integrating the technology into Box’s document storage and collaboration service will help it reach that goal. According to a Box spokeman, the company was attracted to Crocodoc in part because of its speedy, high-fidelity rendering, the solutions ability to zoom into a PDF file without experiencing much lag or delay. Crocodoc uses HTML5 and the Scalable Vector Graphic (SVG) format, and renders the files in the cloud. Read the full story here.
