Adobe Releases Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 Betas

Jul 19, 2011

This week Adobe announced the beta releases of its Flash Player 11 and AIR 3 software. New features for Flash Player 11 include Stage 3D and 64-bit support, and cross-platform browser-based access to rich internet applications (RIA) and content on multiple devices.

Developers will be interested in the new Stage3D APIs, as they provide the ability to include interactive visuals which improve collaboration with 3D models. Also included is support for the integration of voice/telephony into business applications via the G.711 audio codec.

The Adobe AIR 3 beta comes with significant performance enhancements that have improved the graphics rendering, along with high def video for multiple OSes and devices. Adobe is hoping to attract developers who are looking to create console-quality games, exceptional video or enterprise applications that can easily scale.
