WebMatrix 2 Beta Released by Microsoft

This week Microsoft announced the beta release of its WebMatrix 2 web development software, which includes a free web development toolset. This release also includes a faster startup time, the ability to open remote sites and smarter code editors.

By using the WebMatrix software, developers can create open source web apps, as well as use the included web templates for website creation. The goal of the sofware is to enable developers to quickly and easily create web applications or websites.

The Microsoft Web Platform Installer is used to download and install the WebMatrix software. According to Microsoft, WebMatrix can be downloaded, installed and ready to use within five minutes. WebMatrix also enables developers to download and install the latest WordPress, Joomla!, DotNetNuke and Orchard releases.
