A new service from Google can speed up your website by up to 60 percent--but you have to pay for the speed increase. The Google Page Speed Service grabs your site's content, optimizes it and serves it to your site's visitors using Google's worldwide servers.
Ram Ramani, an engineering manager at Google, recently discussed the service, stating that "Page Speed Service fetches content from your servers, rewrites your pages by applying web performance best practices, and serves them to end users via Google's servers across the globe. Your users will continue to access your site just as they did before, only with faster load times."
Currently, the service is only available to a small number of web developers at no cost, but once Google officially launches Google Page Speed, the company has stated that it will be competitively priced.
