Shining examples of what can be done using JavaScript and HTML5 keep showing up each day. This week it's the popular game DOOM, which developer Alon Zakai has brought to life as a an impressive web app.

The DOOM app, which so far works in Firefox and Safari, works very well within the browser, but does have its limitations. Currently loading and saving games only works until the user leaves the page, but Zakai is working on that limitation using IndexDB for persistent storage.
