Search Engine Optimization Tips: Keyword Research

Apr 28, 2010

Search Engine Optimization (SEO) is vital to the success (or failure) of your website. One of the most important aspects of SEO is keyword research, which we’ll discuss in this article!

The first question that comes to mind is of course, where does one start? The answer is, start with what you know. What is your website/business trying to sell or promote? Come up with a list of keywords and phrases that relate to that business. Now it’s time to utilize a utility such as Google’s keyword tool.

Using Google’s keyword tool, you’ll be able to see how many searches have been done using your chosen keywords. You can narrow it down to searches in the last month, worldwide, or local. Once you’ve narrowed your list down, it’s time to start looking at your competitors and see which phrases they’re using, so you can finally decide upon which keywords to use on your own site.
