Adobe Goes Beyond Flash, Talks About New Web Developer Technologies

Although Flash comes to mind when Adobe is mentioned, the company is far from blind when it comes to emerging web technologies. Adobe is working on tools for HTML5 and CSS3 that will bring its current developer tools up to speed.

Last week Adobe announced its Design and Web blog, which is written by Paul Gubbay, Adobe's senior director of engineering, and Lea Hickman, senior director of product management for its Creative Suite design and Web tools, suites and services. They have mentioned that not only are they working on new tools for HTML5 and CSS3, but they are already running internal demonstrations of what is possible with those technologies.

They have also discussed their approach to "multi-screen" authoring using CSS3, which will enable developers to create sites which display correctly on different devices with different screens.

Along with these developer tools, Adobe will soon be announcing a new service that enables developers to integrate social networking capabilities into web applications.
