This week developers were treated to a glimpse of the upcoming Windows 8 operating system, and that glimpse has shown that the OS is not only focused on tablet form factors, but treats HTML5 and JavaScript as a first class platform for the development of Windows 8 apps.

The way some developers, such as VSM columnist and Blue Badge Insights President Andrew Brust, foresee a future where developers can create apps, using JavaScript and HTML5, and applications, using .NET. Developer expectations are that Microsoft will create tools that allow developers to create impressive web-based apps using HTML5 and JavaScript, while leveraging the investments already made by .NET developers.
