Web Technologies Enable Apps To Create New Opportunities
Cloud computing has finally made it to the status of public awareness, largely due to Microsoft's latest media campaign. Cloud computing and web-based technologies are opening doors that were previously unheard of for developers and end-users alike.
The main concept is not particularly new, but it's only recently that it has become possible for most people to use cloud computing on a regular basis in their lives. The ability to access data, no matter where you are, as long as you have the ability to connect to the internet, is now possible--even McDonalds has wifi.
The need for faster computers, more memory and storage, and powerful applications has been replaced with the need for connectivity and web applications. Google has shown, via Gmail and Google Docs, that it is entirely possible to bypass local applications, and enable your data to be accessible from anywhere you are connected.
