Many times a web developer's directives concerning SEO are taken as gospel when a website is being constructed, without taking into consideration serious SEO issues or potential problems. By using the new laws of search engine optimization, you can properly optimize your website as it is developed.

The first rule is to try to endeavor to keep your site's content as close to the top level directory of your website as you possibly can. The further you progress down in your site's architecture, the less valuable the content is to a search engine.

Put your site's content into logical containers that are based on the content that is the focus of your website. An example would be a website that is focused on fruit, would have a logical structure that could look like this: Fruits, Apples, Red Apples.
