Developers Eager for Official Google+ API Create Their Own Solutions
Many developers have joined the new Google+ social network in the last week, as Google opened it up by invite only to a select few...million users. What Google didn't do is provide developers with a sneak peak at the official Google+ API, so some developers have begun to create unofficial Google+ APIs themselves.
As they did with the unofficial Google Maps mashups, developers have jumped the gun to create APIs that may be likely to become official APIs at some point--but those who use them have to do so with the knowledge that Google may stop their functionality, or make minor changes that break them at some point.
Unofficial Google+ APIs include Google+Tweet, Google+Facebook, CircleCount, PHP-based Google+ API, Rudimentary Google+ API, as well as a Chrome browser extension called Google+ Share to Twitter/Facebook.
