Basic Web Development Skills are Still Vital

As little as 10 years ago, when people were in need of a product or a service, they looked in the yellow pages of their phonebook. Today, Google fills that need. If your website isn’t up to par, or your site’s SEO methodology is faulty, your business will likely suffer.

As Jamie Brewer, web designer for Triggerfish puts it, “I think nowadays, if most people have a question about a company, they’re going to Google it, and that will be their first impression. And if someone goes to your website and it’s bad, people will think that’s how you run your company.”

Although the process of creating a decent website is much easier now than it was 15 years ago, you still need some basic web design knowledge. Learn the languages that the web is created in (HTML, CSS and JavaScript). If you seriously don’t have the time to learn these technologies, use web design tools to make up for what you don’t know. But make the effort, keep your site current, and stay up to date about the latest SEO practices. Your business will only get better.
