Open Source CMS Market 2010 Report Shows Drupal Trailing Joomla! and WordPress

The annual Water & Stone Open Source Market Share Report has just come out, and it shows that although the open source CMS market is shifting, the top three in the market are still strong. Joomla!, WordPress and Drupal are still the top three, but Drupal’s share of the market has dropped significantly.

Since last year’s report 10 open source CMSes were eliminated based on their current market position. The current list of 20 systems is based on user metrics based on rate of adoption and brand strength, along with surveys conducted with over 5000 developers.

Besides the fact that WordPress, Joomla! and Drupal are still on top, in that order, with no indication that their position will be challenged any time soon. Next on the list are DotNetNuke, Liferay and Typo3.
