The Life of a Beginning Joomla Developer

While some new developers get bogged down into the technical aspects of actually putting together a website, other, more practically minded developers see past the end of their noses, realizing that a website that is both functional and easy to maintain is in everyone’s best interests. Welcome to the mindset of a Joomla developer.

The Joomla content management system (CMS) is open source, meaning it was created by developers who wanted it to remain free to use. To use it, you just download the compressed file, uncompress it, and upload it to your web server. Installing it is usually as simple as following the on screen prompts.

Once you have your site up and running, making changes is as simple as logging in and entering some data into a form field. Once it is online, practically anyone can make changes, add a blog, or some images–that is, as long as you have given them permissions to do so. Joomla allows a non-techie to create a site that is easy to manage and update, and once you have it set up, you can even delve into further Joomla enhancements that are almost as easy to install and configure as the CMS itself.
